It all began in 2001, when Armenia celebrated the 1700th anniversary of the adoption of Christianity as a state religion. That year, around 90 000 tourists visited Armenia to take part in this important event. At the time, this was an unprecedented number and a major impulse for the development of tourism in our country.

At the same time, it became clear how difficult it was to properly receive such a large number of visitors. There were very few hotels and tourism service providers and internet access was almost nonexistent. Some visitors came to Armenia as part of state events, others relied on relatives and acquaintances, while the rest had purchased "standard group packages" in advance from travel companies in their home countries.

As we looked at these challenges, we kept asking ourselves: what should people do if they want to visit Armenia at a time that suits them, stay in a hotel or apartment that matches their expectations, explore the places they truly want to see and arrange all the services they may need during their stay? How could they find, choose and book everything easily and in advance?

That was the moment when the idea of our company was born. We wanted to create a service that would allow future visitors to Armenia to receive useful advice before their trip and to choose and book everything they would need before arriving in the country. This idea gave rise to the name of our company: "Hyur Service" – Services for Guests Visiting Armenia.

The company was registered on June 25, 2002 and our first office opened in July of the same year. We were only three people, working in a simple 20 sq. m. room on Charents Street in Yerevan. We bought a used Pentium II computer, some office furniture and basic supplies and began building a website offering tourism services in three languages – Armenian, English and French. A couple of months later, the website went live and in October 2002 we welcomed our first customer.
