| VARDAVAR IN ARMENIA |
One of the most magnificent summer feasts in Armenia is called "Vardavar". It is a nature- worshipping feast germinated in far-away millenniums. In pagan Armenia this holiday was dedicated to Astghik: the goddess of love and beauty, who would spread love around, along with roses and rose water. After adopting Christianity the Armenian church replaced this feast with the Transfiguration feast. You are welcome to take part in this "Festival of Roses", which is accompanied with joyful songs, dances and water-sprinkling games. |
